Cookie Policy
Last updated June 14, 2026.
1. Introduction to Cookies & Local Storage
SpendFlow is committed to protecting your privacy. This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies, local storage, session storage, and related web technologies to deliver, secure, and improve our services (including the SpendFlow app and the blog pages).
By using the SpendFlow website or application, you agree that we can place these data tokens on your device in accordance with this policy.
2. Core Application Storage (First-Party Data)
To make the SpendFlow app function offline and remember your preferences without connecting to a central database, we store necessary data directly in your browser's local storage and session storage:
- Authentication State: Firebase Authentication uses standard secure cookies and tokens to keep you logged in to your account.
- Offline Database Cache: Transaction data, budget configurations, and user settings are cached inside browser local storage so the app works seamlessly without an internet connection.
- PIN Protection Session: If you enable a secure PIN lock, session storage tracks your active login session to lock the app when the tab is closed or idle.
- UI Preferences: Dark mode settings, currency preferences, and filters are saved locally to keep your interface clean and personalized.
⚠️ Note: Clearing your browser history, cache, or site cookies will sign you out and may remove locally cached offline transaction data that hasn't synced with our secure database backup.
3. Third-Party Advertising and Analytics
Our educational blog pages and guides utilize third-party tools to support content creation and monitor platform traffic:
Google AdSense: Google and its partners utilize third-party cookies to serve ads based on your visits to SpendFlow and other websites. These cookies help prevent fraud, limit frequency, and measure ad performance.
Google Analytics: We use analytical cookies to collect anonymous usage data (like page views, article read times, and traffic sources) to understand which personal finance topics are most helpful to our readers.
4. Managing and Controlling Your Choices
You have full control over cookie settings in your browser. Here is how you can manage your preferences:
- Browser Settings: You can configure your browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) to block third-party cookies or notify you before they are set.
- Ad Personalization: You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the Google Ads Settings page.
- Analytics Opt-Out: You can prevent Google Analytics from tracking your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Updates and Contact
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our app features or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
